Fics like In The Wake of Shattered Stars

Vi doesn’t mind the waiting. She knows all about waiting. The thing about automatons is that they’ll wait for as long as you want them to – hours, months, years. They won’t get tired, they won’t pass out because their knees lock, they won’t shut down or rust. Not until you tell them to, at least. Not unless they can’t help it. She doesn’t mind the exams either, even if the engineers are more rough with her than necessary when conducting them. It’s uncomfortable; the pressure inside her ears always makes her feel like something is going to rupture right before it eases, but even that is less invasive than the shit she remembers. When she remembers it, anyway. If she remembers it. -- In the wake of a hundred year war, an automaton named Vi wakes from deep-state hibernation to find herself on an unfamiliar spacecraft. Humanity's last hope lies within the workings of her brain, but when her memories get disrupted, it's a race against time and her own consciousness to figure out the secrets that lie locked in her past, secrets that have the potential to save them all.
