Fics like Like We Were Then

“Your butchery of the English language astounds me.” Damian says, sliding into the seat. “Second language.” Dick replies. “Can’t be blamed for my mistakes.” Damian sniffs pretentiously as Dick starts up the car and gets them on the road, the reprimand already on his tongue. “Don’t be foolish, Richard, you have mastered a number of languages and are perfectly capable of speaking them as they were intended to be spoken, as I do. Making excuses as such is undignified.” Dick hums, amused. “I think there was actually a compliment in there. You’re getting soft, baby bat.” Damian’s scandalized face is exactly as Dick pictured it. “I am not!” … Bruce died. Bruce came back to life. The months between those moments don’t stop meaning something even if it would be easier if they did. It’s up to Dick to reassemble his life and find a way to be a brother to the boy he considers his kid. It shouldn’t be a problem (except that it is) and where the hell is his sweater??
