Fics like Feathersoft

It's been six months to the day. That horrible, soul-shattering, world-ending day. The day Quentin Beck took a metaphorical machete to his chest and carved out his heart, tucking a devastating promise in the newly vacated hole and sewing it back up. Tony sighs heavily, the sound breaking on a near-sob. He glances down again, halfway to deliriousness, at the phone in his palm. There's nothing. No notification, no indication that what Beck promised is going to come to fruition. It causes him to grimace, to pull even deeper into the cushion of the couch. "Nothing?" May asks quietly, chewing the tips of her finger-nails. She glances down at the phone he holds, her eyes red-rimmed and wide, matching his in desperate yearning. "It's been- it's been six months, that's what he said-" "Yeah," Tony chokes out. "Six fucking months-"
