Fics like Morning Glory

One of the petals is still in Sam’s hand. It’s soft and silky, and it looks tiny and innocuous in his palm. It’s probably fitting that someone as sick as Sam is, in his heart and in his mind and in all the ways he wants Dean, is being killed by something that sounds and looks as sweet as morning glory. Also, it would be nice if the damn thing stuck to the mornings, but although the coughing is worse in the early mornings, the coughing is intermittent throughout the day. Sam covers his mouth when he coughs, hides the red petals in his hands, stuffing them into the pockets of his jeans, or letting them fall onto the ground if he can do so without being seen. He thinks of himself like Hansel, leaving petals instead of breadcrumbs, except, unlike Hansel he’s forever lost.
