Fics like the proof is in the pudding

Fox stepped into Mercy’s office with the feeling of his heart flipping over in his chest front and center, a mark of anxiety that he refused to let show on his face. The CMO’s office was a tiny thing, space carved out of a former cleaning closet, but it was big enough for a cot and a desk, a rolling stool shoved between. Fox lazily saluted Mercy, and she rolled her eyes at him. “Armor off,” she said tightly. Fox didn’t protest the tone - he was there for a reason, and they both knew it. He stripped down to his blacks, and hauled himself up onto the cot. A few months ago, it had creaked every time he sat on it. Now, it was silent. Part of him, the part that was foolish, hoped that Mercy had just oiled the wheels. The rest of him knew the bitter truth. (Or, how Fox's food issues inadvertently saves the Galaxy through the power of Pudding)
