Fics like Gold Dust Woman

Loving Nancy Wheeler was a lot like plunging feet first into Lovers Lake in her skivvies. She didn't know why she was doing it, even when her head was five feet below the water and sinking fast. It was freezing cold, but Robin had never felt more alive in those fourteen harrowing seconds between the time that her toes touched the water and her head came breeching back through the glittering surface. And it was those same fourteen seconds that Robin would chase, day after day, when Nancy would smile at her and call her some silly name. When her nose would wrinkle and Robin would laugh obnoxiously in response, because it was all she could do to keep her words to herself. She had one phrase that had made a permanent home on the tip of her anxiety-bitten tongue, one that was burned into the forefront of her mind whenever Nancy was around. Three words that were searing her soul even now. I love you. I love you. "I love you." "What?" ✦✦✦ Well, did she make you cry, make you break down, shatter your illusions of love? And is it over now, do you know how? Pick up the pieces and go home.
