Fics like Spring Flower

When the chime dings on the door to his shop, Charlie usually doesn’t even look up. But this time, on this particular January day, he does. It’s a subtle change in everything that sends his head turning, like even the very air knows something monumental is about to happen. He pricks his finger on a particularly thorny rose, but his fingers are so calloused after years of use that he barely even notices the pain. A tall man with dark blonde hair and a smart looking black suit walks in. He’s handsome in a rugged, sportsy kind of way, and Charlie is instantly smitten, because how could he not be? The man’s smile is as warm as his brown eyes, and the hint of red in his scruffy beard reminds Charlie of the first sparks of a fire. Charlie’s floral shears lay limply in his hand, all but forgotten as his whole world falls into two distinct phases. All that came before this moment, and everything that will come after.
