Fics like How to Be Home

When his blurred vision came into focus, all he could see was Grian. The avian was sitting on top of him, pinning him to the floor with sharp, taloned fingers and glaring down at him with dangerous eyes, wings arched high above him, brushing the ceiling. A low, rumbling snarl was building in his friend's throat, and though he was looking at him — very intensely, he might add — he got the feeling he wasn’t actually seeing him. Mumbo’s heart raced in his chest, in his throat, everywhere, as he stared back up at Grian with wide eyes, suddenly afraid to even blink. From behind, a broken shard of glass was placed delicately at his throat, and out of the corner of his eye he could see Scar, kneeling down next to him with an uncharacteristically blank look on his face. Neither of them seemed to register where they were, or who he was. A bead of sweat dripped from his hairline to his jaw. He would respawn, if he died. But Grian and Scar were looking at him like they didn’t know that. Not right now, anyway. Or, Eight Hermits go missing for eight weeks. They don't quite come back the same. [Desert Duo & Mumbo-centric]
