Maedhros is eighteen months out of an abusive relationship, but he's doing well. He's going to therapy regularly. He's living on his own, and he's getting his doctorate in linguistics. Sure, he's still got issues with sleep, food, self-esteem, dating, and sex, but who doesn't have issues with those things? Besides, his new roommate Fingon is great to have around and seems surprisingly invested in being his friend. Sure, Fingon is straight and has a girlfriend, but Maedhros doesn't mind. He's not ready to date again anyway, and Fingon is such a good friend. All the sex that eventually takes place between Maedhros and Fingon is consensual.
