Fics like first love, late spring

“It’s hard when your friends are all in relationships with each other, isn’t it?” she sighs. It’s not, really—Mitsumi, Yuzu, and Mako have all made it a point to spend as much time with her and each other as they do in their respective pairings, nurturing their friendships as actively and importantly as their romances. But third year is speeding towards its end, and Mika is acutely aware that change is on the horizon. It makes her wistful for the initial stages of their friendship, those glorious, freeing moments of first year where she found people who loved her for her for the very first time, and the future seemed endless and easy and bright with possibility, without other relationships to cause tangles. It’s still all that, of course—but it’s different. It makes her sad in that way growing up always is. Mukai suddenly looks very interested in his shoes. On a warm afternoon on an outing with friends, Mika and Mukai share a revelatory moment.
