Zhongli doesn’t notice anything amiss at first. There’s a certain new fullness to the stomach of his vessel, but then again, Childe has made sure he’s always well-fed, insisting on as many dinners out as he can manage while he is still in Liyue. Childe notices it, too, joking lightheartedly about his retirement belly, patting the bulge gently as he wraps his hands around Zhongli in bed. It’s only weeks later, when Zhongli is enjoying a lovely afternoon at the Third-Round Knockout, listening to Iron Tongue Tian’s tale with a pot of well-brewed tea that he realizes what is going on. Or after the events at the Harbor Zhongli and Childe make up and make love. They end up making something else too.
