Fics like The Price of Skepticism

Kai had laughed when one of his future neighbors had warned him about it as he was finishing his apartment tour; he couldn’t help it! The older man had seemed deadly serious as he warned Kai about the strange stories former tenants had told him throughout the years. The landlord had hurried him away, but Kai was quick to reassure him that he was still set on renting the apartment. After all, ghosts didn’t exist. There was probably a carbon monoxide problem during the winter or something, and Kai had made sure to bring a working detector for every room of the apartment so he wouldn’t end up hallucinating floating candelabras, or whatever other nonsense previous tenants thought they’d seen. — Kai moves into a haunted apartment both because of its significantly lower rent and because he doesn't believe in ghosts. Unfortunately for him, his disbelief in the supernatural makes him ignore the warning signs until it's too late to escape. (Unrelated to Exposure Therapy, my previous story involving this character)
