Nearly everyone in this insignificant little farming village seemed to have been drawn to his stage. Men, woman, young, old; all were captivated by his performance. Not that Lorcan had cared anything for his popularity. None of it, none of them, mattered to him. Lorcan had only put the bare minimum into his performance; not that these backwater bumpkins would have even had been able to tell the difference. He was a highly skilled demi-fae warrior. He had been leading the Cadre for centuries. He and Rowan Whitethorn were the stuff of myth and legend. But to these humans he was a carnival sword thrower. Their entertainment for the night. He would play the role, the part he’s been forced into. But that doesn’t mean he has to like it. So Lorcan put on his little show. Had the audience gasping and applauding at all the right moments. But he was bored; barely engaged with what he was doing. Until she walked in.
