Fics like Rite

The first time Alfred levels a gun at his father’s face, it’s with the taste of smoke and lead in the air, his right hand closed around the wooden stock of a smoothbore musket. The metal of the trigger is cool against his finger, and his heartbeat thunders in his ears. Ah, my dear boy, Arthur says, as though he is greeting his son at an elegant Boston soirée, instead of stepping across the ruined landscape of a battlefield. He spreads his arms in the mockery of a welcoming embrace. Whatever are you waiting for? Oneshot. A different take on the canon Revolutionary War strip.
