Major Edward Elric, age 12, gets drafted to Ishval on orders of Order 306. Due to their complementing alchemy styles, he gets transferred to Major Kimblee’s unit. Elric doesn't know why everyone doesn’t like Kimblee – he thinks Kimblee’s stupid as fuck, honestly. Or: Major Solf J. Kimblee, age 23, looks at Major Elric, age 12, and wonders what he’s done wrong in life to be saddled with babysitting duty in an active war zone, of all places.
