Thorin did not know why he was doing this. There was nothing he needed to say to the hobbit at the end of his journey, and yet from the moment he’d left, Thorin pondered him fiercely, desired to see him well and happy again as though the hobbit had stolen his own personage and taken it all the way back to the Shire, under Thorin’s nose itself. No turning back. Thorin did not know why he was doing this, but he knew he needed to do it. ~~~ Thorin tracks Bilbo down after recovering from the Battle of the Five Armies. He stays longer than intended.
