Fics like The Starting Over Affair

The two partners were more than work partners; they were in love. For years they worked together, they shared their lives, and they assumed this would always be true. Then Napoleon was offered a promotion. All of a sudden the relationship was severed. Many years later, they are drawn together again in tragic circumstances. Napoleon, shocked by Illya’s acquisition of another family, feels himself unworthy of even friendship with Illya. Illya, shocked at the poor state of Napoleon’s health, feels himself desperate to help but does not know how. Neither has forgotten their love for each other, but nor has either partner forgiven himself for his part in their quarrel. Will they find their way back to each other again, or will they let the darkness of their past blot out what could be a bright future?
