Fics like a nameless stray

“Are we just destined for this?” “For what?” “Loneliness.” “Yes,” She says immediately. It’s the most honest she’s ever been with him. “Gods and shinki— we’re all destined for loneliness. We’re dead, we have no ties to the human world. We exist to serve and protect, we aren’t allowed to exist for ourselves. It’s why we need each other.” “I don’t need a god, Kofuku.” “Maybe,” She says, and it’s clear she doesn’t believe him. “But you need someone.” And she’s right, he knows she is. “I don’t think I’ll ever have anyone.” “You will.” “How do you know?” “You will,” She says, like it’s a promise. or: a name is something only a master can give and, despite craving it, he’s decided to renounce the only beings capable of giving him one. he’s lost everything to the gods’ whims too many times to count, and refuses to go through it again. if only the child god would stop making it so damn difficult. yato is reincarnated, clueless, childish, innocent, and— and craves family in the same way he does. they’re not a perfect match, they might never be, but they learn to be a family anyway.
