Fics like flickers in the dark

He feels Vader in the same moment he registers the sound of breathing, discordant and cracked, a presence so familiar and so foreign at once his heart can hardly make sense of it. There’s a shuddering exhale, an untold stretch of seconds, and then an inhale that’s all fractured pieces—here filtered, there a gasping struggle of devastated lungs. Obi-Wan tenses instinctively, muscles stinging at the sudden pull, fingers cracking as they tighten around the lightsaber still miraculously in his hand. He hurts everywhere, like—well, like someone has dropped him thirty paces and entombed him with an avalanche of stone. Sweat stings in deep cuts on his face, his hands, through rents in his clothing. Or, Vader is badly injured when he and Obi-Wan are buried alive during their fight after Jabiim.
