Fics like thirty birds

So here you are: two heroes who woke up on the other side of the day and realized that heroism is a human creation and that the world spins on. So hey, Pixy. If the world doesn’t love you, then who does? There’s a man following in your shadow, ready to mark down your final words and bury you with dignity you aren’t sure you deserve. So hey, Pixy. How do you deserve it? How do you die with dignity? How do you give him your final words? I think I love you. Can I hold your hand? Don’t mess it up, Pixy. You’re still heroes today. He breathes out a slow, steady breath. It’s cold, he says. Let’s go back. You swallow your heart. You breathe, too. “Yeah,” you say. “Let’s go.” In which we are already living in the end of the world. In which the apocalypse has come and we are irrevocably alive. So what now. What then. So hey: will you survive the future, for as long as you can bear?
