Fics like Mimicry

Owen Grady has always felt more connected to animals than to people. He capitalized on this connection in the Navy to train dogs and dolphins, and he uses it when Simon Masrani calls him to ask if he wants a job. Velociraptors can't be so different from all the other animals he's worked with, right? Then the first egg hatches. He watches as sharp claws pierce the outer shell of the egg, slowly tearing open the material. The animal moves slowly. She’s just a baby, he knows, so her muscles aren’t at their best, but even now he’s sure those claws could rip out his throat with no effort. A yellow eye peers out from the gap in the egg. Owen stares back at it, unblinking. He smiles as a noise comes from the egg, a raspy chirp that makes an inhuman sound of his own bubble up his throat before he can push it back down.
