“Ziggy,” he murmurs, cutting through the haze of anxiety surrounding her like a knife. “Ziggy, I’ll take care of both of you.” “It’s not you that concerns me.” “I’ll handle Will,” he assures her. She hears him approach, feels the warmth radiating from his body as he comes up behind her. She shivers as he reaches out with one hand and glides it up and down her spine. “You’re going to be safe,” he continues lowly, “and happy, and mine.” He punctuates each word with a kiss to her shoulder, the curve of her neck, the tips of her ears. Mine. Her anxiety ebbs at the thought. It’s not such a terrible thing, she decides, to be his. Or: The consequences catch up with Ziggy and Nick. Or: The Final Part of Priest Nick.
