Fics like “in a world of one color / the sound of wind”

Kamisato Ayaka finds herself tethered to the changing of the seasons, a majestic cycle of the mundane—the flowers that shape winter, the winds that sing spring, the waters that quench summer, and the leaves that tease autumn. With each landscape, she explores new subjects to paint, new pigments to lay on paper, permanently. And Ayaka’s latest work is one that leaves the people of Inazuma in awe, witnessing how well the daughter of Kamisato Kayo has blossomed. The well-respected General of the Shogun’s Army, Kujou Sara, is one of those beguiled by her very presence. As Sara’s noble persistence continues to push the boundaries that Ayaka has set, little by little, she enters the world of the Shirasagi Himegimi—a vast wonderment of nature’s colors, of every beautiful thing the tengu warrior has never known. Ayaka attempts to ignore her melting walls of abstractions, but deep down, she knows that just as the seasons change, so does the human heart. As corruptions within the Shogunate begin jeopardizing the era of tranquility on Inazuma's horizon, Ayaka’s growing affinity with the general is one that might just spare her people.
