Fics like On Growing Older

Nick saw him first. “Ollie!” Oliver waved. He knew what was coming. He braced himself for the Nick Nelson bear hug. But Nick saw him wince a bit, and he offered him a fist bump instead. “How’s it been, mate? Truman treating you alright?” Ollie accepted the fist bump. “Yeah, school’s been good. Don’t have nearly enough classes with Xavier and Olivia, though.” “Oh, how’s Xavier doing?” Charlie chimed in. He always found it funny that Ollie's best friend’s older brother was dating one of his mates from secondary school. Oliver wanted to say that he was worried about Xavier. That he was being crushed under anxiety, and that his parents didn't quite understand it, or they didn't want to, and that he was worried that it'll all get worse and it'll all be Ollie's fault for not helping more. But he didn't say that. Because that's not the type of thing you say when you're catching up with your brother who hasn't lived with you for six years. Or, the one about Ollie Spring's teenage years navigating friendship, anxiety, loneliness, and feeling like he'll never find anything akin to the perfect stories that his siblings made for themselves.
