Fics like Pledge to Thyself

Riley, a 29-year-old aura guardian in training, is plagued by uncertainty over his life's path. He may be the last aura-manipulating human in the world. But he's unsure if he's even worthy of being an aura guardian, much less decide how to handle his ancestors' legacy. Meanwhile, in the Hisui era, a merchant is preparing to release an eldritch being. So, at the suggestion of Mew, Arceus sends Riley back in time to prevent Volo from summoning Giratina. Now stuck in a time where pokemon are more adversary than friend, Riley must navigate new people, traditions, and life-threatening situations—without anyone knowing of his aura abilities. He'd rather not have a mob of people with pitchforks and torches run him out, thanks. a.k.a. this is an excuse to flesh out riley, explore another side of volo, and have lots of platonic bonding with akari, rei, and laventon because who doesn't want soup for the soul Chapter 55 has a list of all the playlists included in the fic!
