Fics like Give It Time

For as long as Aloy can remember, the mission, whatever it may be, has always been the most important thing. Problems to solve, people to help, a world to save—there’s never been room for anything, anyone else. Because letting people in, letting people know her, really know her, letting them see all her flaws and weaknesses is a risk beyond anything she’s ever faced. It’s easy enough to push people away and maintain a comfortable—a safe—distance. Until Kotallo. Until suddenly she wants things she’s never allowed herself to want. Until suddenly she has them. But after a lifetime of walls and running, learning to be vulnerable, to trust someone with all the fragile, broken pieces of herself? That takes time.
