Fics like In The Tall Grass

“If you take him,” said Master Windu, flanked by Master Yoda and Master Koon, “it must be in exile. We cannot abide having him here. If you want him, he is yours, but you will have to leave.” Anakin, chained, gagged, heavily sedated, chose this moment to lunge at Obi-Wan with a wild, crazed hatred. His yellow eyes were set in pits of darkness, a ring of purple bruises around them contrasting against a sickly pale face. “I understand,” said Obi-Wan. “I will renounce my vows as a Jedi.” “A fool’s errand, I believe this is," said Master Yoda. "But a choice, you have made. Return, you may, in five years’ time, if safe, he is. Reevaluate then, we shall.” Obi-Wan nodded. “I accept your terms.” Alternatively: after a failed order 66, in which many Jedi still died but the Sith were defeated, an exiled warrior and a boy wander a distant planet and attempt to get along.
