Fics like We wished upon the stars

How did: "I want to write Billkin as a failboat!vampire" turn into 26k of dark horror fantasy? Yeah, don't ask. This was inspired by things I enjoyed watching growing up as well as now (e.g. BtVS, GARO). I also took some inspiration from actual folklore and legends and the like to build this world. //PP. Yeah, that was his name here. At the Guild people either didn’t know each other’s real names or they chose not to speak them. It was considered bad luck to do so. Some of their enemies could make use of their real names and get them into trouble after all. So it was better to be safe than sorry. At first it had been a bit strange but now he had gotten used to it. It all fit together after all. A new name. A new life. Krit shook his head to clear it. Why was he suddenly thinking of the past? Maybe it was this dark night. It was weighing down his mood. Or maybe something else was in the air, too. “This stench can only mean one thing,” Krit looked around and let his senses guide him. Once he had determined a direction he broke into a run and pulled out his weapon. It was time to get to work.// Krit is a slayer. Billkin is an undead. Stuff happens.
