Fics like in the cut and the thrust of a nightmare

Sylvie hits him sword first, momentum carrying her forward even as she starts to jerk back from him, and there’s a red-hot slash of something sharper than pain across his throat. She reels back, eyes going wide with horror, and hard on the heels of that comes pain after all, thin and bright and searing, and when he tries to speak he chokes on his own blood. In their final fight in the Citadel at the End of Time, Loki's timing is very slightly worse, or Sylvie's reflexes are very slightly less quick, and things between Loki and Sylvie go a little differently. (Just going to say up front: please note the lack of the Major Character Death tag.)
