Fics like Pirates Are Born Free

Between Luffy’s shoulder blades, sits the hoof of the soaring sun, the mark of a slave. Ace can’t breathe, can’t do anything but stare at the brand as the sight burns itself into his memory. “I-I told Ace. I-I’m…” Ace doesn't let Luffy finish, he removes the shirt entirely, hands shaking. “I can’t believe you went and got yourself so hurt without me, do you know how much I worried about you?” The smile he gives doesn’t reach his eyes at all, but it seems to shake Luffy from whatever memory was surfacing. “Troublesome little brother, I missed you so much.” Or Ace loses two brothers the night of the fire. One to death, and the other to a darkness he might never be able to chase away. (Dragon still finds Sabo in this universe)
