Fics like Where The Lanterns Never Burn - Book 1

It’s no benefit to a bourgeoning evergreen to plant its roots by an eroding shoreline. If only the acorn could choose where it fell to begin with. Perhaps that was one perk to flesh and bone over wood and paint. Young boys aren’t trees and so young boys don’t have roots. This means they can really move about and go wherever they wish. Indeed, now a very certain young boy could stake out in the world, regardless of whatever roots may lay behind him. Things of old don’t belong by the ocean anyway. Not by the ruthless waters that yield you a whole living to take home to your father. Rough waters leave very little for remembering and very much to forget. Sometimes this forcible living in the moment is helpful. As long as hands once wrought of pine could learn something new and come back to shore with anything to show, the past can peaceably be outpaced by the present. With this said, there are two things worth remembering: If you must bring it with you, be fully prepared to lose it. And whatever the endless sea brings in, you haven’t much a choice but to accept it.
