Fics like 'Tis But Fortune (All is Fortune)

Loosely based on "The Fountain of Fair Fortune" by J.K. Rowling in the "Tales of Beedle the Bard". Alternate Universe, where shit went down and the Fold was replaced with an Enchanted Forest of sorts. Once a decade, the merzost choses a supplicant and puts them through a trial. If they succeed, they are blessed with good fortune for the rest of their lives, if they are not, well. No one knows. Each decade, Ravka's own Black General, the feared and loved in turn Aleksandr Morozov, waits for the merzost to chose him, to grant him his one heart's desire - his equal and opposite, his coveted Sun Summoner, This year, something goes a little ...odd with the choosing.
