Fics like conflicted looks good on me

After being forced to drop out of the Olympics due to a knee injury and then dropping a girl on her cheer team in a viral failed stunt video, Chess is starting to get really tired of high school. But no matter how awful the rest of her life is, she knows she'll always have her best friend, Kate - who is just her best friend, no matter what certain girls on their cheer team like to say. Because they're Chess and Kate, Kate and Chess, inseparable, each other's #1 person. Except then a new girl with a pride pin joins their squad, and all of a sudden, all of Kate's attention is on her instead of Chess. Chess doesn't want to be a shitty best friend, but something in her is jealous every time she hears Eva's name - and she doesn't understand why. Plus, all of a sudden, she can't seem to take her eyes off of Cairo Adekoya, no matter how hard she tries. Chess doesn't have many things about her life all figured out, but her feelings about Kate and Cairo were always one of them - at least, she thought they were. ~ HEY i had this idea a few months ago and shared it as an anon on tumblr to @/myfriendthedictionary and now i'm writing it!!!! we'll see what happens!!!
