Fics like sweeter than marmalade

He almost thinks Stede isn’t coming, that’s how long it takes. But eventually Ed sees a familiar figure stumbling over the bluffs and toward the pier, and a tightness in his chest that he hasn’t noticed before slowly releases. “Hey,” Ed grins, trying to hide his relief. Doesn’t matter that he thought about leaving already, doesn’t matter that he’d nearly convinced himself that Stede’s decided to abandon him for some reason. He’s here now, and that’s okay, and he’s safe and he’s… Crying? --- What happens if Stede had just gone with Ed at the end of Episode 9, like they planned.
