Fics like Retiring in St. Tropez

“Maybe someday I’ll take her to Saint-Tropez, Mr. Stark,” he heard a familiar voice say, causing him to flinch. A familiar voice that still haunts him to this day. The voice rings through his head, almost discombobulating him. When he finally got out of that cave oh so many years ago, he could hear a cacophony of voices screaming in his head: Of innocent men who only wanted to fight for their country; of women and children who screamed when the missiles hit them; and of the people who actually had a conscience and chastised him for his war monger business. But none of those voices would ever come close to the chills that one voice sends down his spine. He admired Peter for that sense of responsibility. Tony came to love him as a son because he wanted to be with him in that journey towards being a hero. He loved that sense of responsibility in the kid, and he hoped to learn from him, even if he’ll never admit that.
