Fics like kiss my scars (or deepen them)

Vanitas sometimes thought about how he shared the same eyes as his younger self. He shared the same body, the same violated body he failed to protect, the same legs he let down by never running away of his own volition, the same soul that will never free him from existential shame. He wastes the same space as his younger self. He still lives his mother’s stolen life. He is still looking at the same skies, breathing the same air, and seeing the same poisonous fog in front of him. He still wanted to punch the same walls, scream the same cries, silence the same thoughts, suffocate to the same anxiety whose grip was not getting any looser over the years. The family he found, the friends he made, and the boy who thought of himself as invisible to the rest of the world, show him that he is worthy of love through their own unhealed troubles, revealing that being vulnerable is the strongest thing someone can be.
