Fics like Unrushed

“I wish to add on something to this contract of yours. Something that I need from you, if I am to feel any peace about stepping down from my position as the Geo Archon.” The Tsaritsa motions for him to continue. “My people must be tested. I need to be certain that they can defend themselves. When I step down, the adepti will be forced to step back. To test them, they need a strong enemy. One who will cause chaos and destruction, who seems like an opponent that only I and the adepti should be able to defeat. One who will be committed to the cause.” She nods, pulling the contract back. “One who will know nothing of the true plan. One who has their orders, and will be my pawn to lead.” “You ask for a near-unbeatable opponent, but one who is easily manipulated?” She raises an eyebrow. “Too tall an order, Your Highness?” he challenges. “Just the opposite.”
