Fics like but i like the way the city smells on you

The world comes to a screeching halt. A lifetime of secret-keeping crashes down around him like a house of cards. The heady scent of blood, spiced ginger, and salted caramel makes itself known, quietly creeping through the air. It’s faint, but damningly present, and if Peter can smell it than Matthew Fucking Murdock certainly can. Frozen in place, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen hovers with one foot inside Peter’s apartment, the coppery tones of his wound mixing with the base scent of Alpha. The moonlight curves around his horns, painting a demonic presence in swaths of black shadow across Peter’s floorboards. “Dear Lord,” he utters. Peter, who had previously convinced himself that he would handle this rationally, panics. “Get the fuck out!” Otherwise known as: For their entire working relationship, Matt has, like everyone else, assumed Peter Parker is the Beta he comes off as. But you know what they say about assuming... Apparently it can bend steel and bodily throw you from apartment windows.
