Fics like And if all the sky is falling (hold on)

Spoilers/speculation from the Season 5b promo “9-1-1 what’s your emergency?” Eddie asks, when the call comes through; still perfecting his phone-voice a little bit at a time. There’s no response for a moment, but just before he can repeat the question, he recognises a sound in the distance. It’s a sound every firefighter dreads to hear; the shrill whine of a PASS device. It means firefighter down, it means one of his brothers or sisters in the service either hasn’t moved for long enough for the alarm to sound automatically, or it's been switched on as a call for help. It’s interrupted by a cough then, a harsh one that seems as if to rattle in the caller’s chest before they take a deep breath as if to speak. “This…this is Firefighter Buckley, from the one-eighteen. My radio’s busted, and I—I think I’m trapped.” Eddie’s blood goes cold. . Buck's injured on a call, and so of course Eddie's on the other end of the line when he dials 911. .
