It’s a baby that looks back at him. His cheeks are round and red, splotchy from all of the tears he has let out. His nose bumps out from the middle of his face, small and terribly cute, though dripping from all of the crying. His hair is thick on his head but wispy, a pale blond that blends in with the sun’s rays. Splotches of juice and mush are smushed onto his face, his hands, his skin, probably due to his struggle in the blueberry bush. And, of course, the big blue eyes that are now staring into Philza’s own. The baby looks like Phil. And maybe, in the future, that’s the reason that Phil would give as to why his instincts went wild, as to why he immediately felt as though this child was flock, nestling—because the kid looked like Phil. --- Phil finds a baby while out in the woods. He brings him to his home, to his flock, to his family.
