Fics like dark was the night (cold was the ground)

“How about I buy you something to eat, to make up for it,” The man gestured towards the bakery Tommy had been about to go into, “If you won’t let me get you help, can’t I at least get you something to eat?” Tommy was about to open his mouth to yell at the man again, but his pleading look stopped him. He nodded slowly, giving into the man’s request. It wasn’t like it would hurt to get one free meal anyways. Maybe he could even scam some extra food outta him for Ranboo and Tubbo. “Fine,” Tommy grumbled, “But only so you’ll leave me alone.” “Great!” The man beamed, dragging Tommy towards the bakery doors, “I’m Wilbur, by the way, just thought you should know.” “Tommy.” Or: Tommy is a street kid during the Great Depression and somehow finds himself adopted by the local organized crime family.
