Fics like Quid Pro Quo, or, Something Surer than Magic

Cassian walks in on Nesta using her powers in the private library. She panics, seducing him into quid-pro-quo arrangement to keep her secret: she sleeps with him once a week, and he doesn’t tell the Inner Circle that she can still wield her mysterious silver flames. In a tribute to Nesta’s dwindling humanity, it is not a bargain—“I’m sick of this Fey bullshit”—it’s an arrangement, built on something more fleeting than magic: trust. It doesn’t take long for them to realize that this will work out to be much, much more than they bargained—or, rather—dealed for. Meanwhile, mysterious beasts have begun appearing all over Prythian. Fake-dating (fake-mating?), Valkyrie adventures, monster hunting, and enough love to melt the Ice Queen’s heart, ensues. ACOSF re-write (ish). - Nesta slid magic-coated hands under the scales and into the flesh of the conjured beast, inviting her Death Magic to suck out its life. In another Universe, We would say that the jolt of power felt like methamphetamines, but they don’t have those here, so We will say instead that it felt like a surge of energy, an electrifying jolt of stolen valor, as fast and as dangerous as the dark magics of the witch who made this monster.
