Fics like I No More Desire A Rose At Christmas Than Wish For Snow

Half an hour ago, Matt would have considered this week a success. Not only was it Christmas in a week's time, but for a whole week he and Cal had been working hard to deck the halls and make it feel like a proper Christmas, following the images of a typical 'Dickensian' winter as Lucy called it, but with all the trimmings of a Gatsby party if Jay Gatsby ever hosted a Christmas dinner. Christmas songs were playing on a loop, but the house band was riffing and changing them up so they didn't grow stale. Plus, he and Harriet had been in far better standing as of late, there were still a lot of insurmountable obstacles but like Romeo and Juliet, Matthew thought the pair of them were ready to damn it all and try again. And at Christmas, too. Which really would make it a Christmas miracle.
