Fics like Sun of the Fire Nation

On the day of Sozin's comet, Zuko emerges from a prison beneath the Fire Nation's palace, determined to take his place on the Fire Nation's throne and help his country to heal. This is the story of how he got there, and of the events that transpire on that first, fatal day after the world is changed forever. A "Zuko never met the Gaang" AU where Zuko's quest for the avatar went sideways a year before Aang emerged from the ice, and Zuko underwent all his character development while living as an earth kingdom vigilante and being held in various prisons.
