Fics like Resent and Remember

Feng Xin finds himself kneeling, too, in front of the ghost. The talisman doesn’t even flutter, because there are no breaths to disrupt it where it lays, so he reaches out to lift one of the bottom corners. Carefully, he lifts his other hand and brushes some of the strands of silver hair; it’s soft, perhaps even too soft, but the likeness otherwise isn’t bad. His skin is pale and clear and even shows a faint flush across the cheeks. “Qing’er,” Feng Xin says quietly, and wonders if the ghost can even hear him under whatever spell the talisman carries. “... Is it you?” - A few hundred years ago, Xie Lian tried to get Mu Qing in to study cultivation at the Royal Holy Pavilion, and was denied. A few hundred years ago, Feng Xin met the former palace servant Mu Qing at a brothel after the fall of Xianle. Now, Feng Xin investigates a ghost that stalks and kills soldiers in the Yong'an capital.
