Fics like i'm headed to the mountains

The next time Sam asks about Buck is two years later, in the back of an ambulance, after he’s just been pulled out of an upended train carriage. She has blood in her eyebrows; he’s broken most of his ribs and he can’t feel her hand in his. And all he says, once the doors have closed, and Abby can’t see the fluoro yellow of the LAFD jackets through the window any longer, is: “Buck. Your Buck?” Her Buck. “Yeah,” Abby says, quietly. “That was—that was him.” Sam nods, and doesn’t say any more. She squeezes his hand because she knows he can’t feel it. or, Abby returns to Los Angeles.
