Fics like Embers of Phenex

Tales of the phoenix are told far and wide to starry-eyed children, but seldom know the tale of Phenex. Within the pages of the Ars Goetia, a demon whose image is as beautiful as the phoenix graces the pages, though its sins are as dastardly as any other of its kind. Solomon foretells that, though Phenex will spend a thousand years in penance attempting to reach heaven, it will be deceived and remain trapped in hell for eternity. Akechi Goro finds himself in the role of Phenex, reborn from the ashes of his demise as he claws to escape a cruel fate in the pits of hell. The lord of the afterlife offers him a second chance at life, at a price of which he has yet to fully understand the cost.
