Fics like what the heart wants

Diluc pulls back his coat to reveal the carefully concealed flesh wound in his torso. There’s not much for Kaeya to see when he’s backlit by the light of the moon, with the black of his clothes hiding most of the red, but it’s unmistakable. He knows, although he only accepts it reluctantly, that he’s hunched over himself, clutching the fabric of his jacket so tightly that his knuckles are white, more expressive than he’d like to be. His face must be twisted into something pained, however neutral he tries to keep it. But he’s holding himself together. He hisses, “Can you help?” Between them is the weight of a thousand fraught moments, connected by a silence that is the only thing keeping them from fighting. Of a dozen secrets and twice as many lies to keep them. Of two apologies, that neither will be the first to give but both will make desperately as soon as the other takes the first step. Kaeya’s eyebrows knit together and the silence stretches thin. He says, “How did you know where I live?”
