Fics like The Hunt for Theseus

Techno's eyes portrayed something strangely familiar. He wasn’t looking at him in malice. He did not point at Tommy and laugh, unlike how some of the other hunters had. Barely able to contain their anticipation at the sight of the ticking clock and Tommy’s collection of wrong answers. No, Techno’s eyes refused to leave his own. Ember red carving molded shapes of themselves into petrified blue, and Tommy could finally place where he’d seen that look before. It hung off of every street kid in The Pit. Dripped from drugged faces in dingy alleyways at night. He’d seen that look on his very own face, in the harsher of winters or when the lottery grain inevitably ran dry. Techno’s eyes read that of raw want. And they were currently fixated on Tommy. OR: An altered AU of the hunger games, in which the all powerful Empire hosts the annual Hunt. An event where teen nobles chase down the unfortunate participants to either claim or sadistically kill. When Tommy volunteers in place of his best friend, he’s determined to not die off without a fight. But what happens when his rebellious attitude accidentally catches the attention of a particularly powerful family.
