Fics like Carried Grief

“Sometimes,” Donna starts, and there’s something trilling in her voice, something sad, something always sad, “I wish you’d talk to me.” He wants to say - it won’t always be shining beaches, and cold oceans and the sun, but you know that, you know that and that’s why you will someday leave me. That’s why they have all left me - he doesn’t. He just blinks at the sun, tugs her closer, trying to fight the intense desire to hug her, embrace her, press his nose into her hair and breathe in her scent of cheap lavender shampoo she insisted she’d bring because she didn’t trust his other bottles, and forget about everything bad. He doesn’t do that either.
